Refunds & cancellation policy
Cancel any time from the billing page. This page explains your 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and how refunds work.
Effective date: [DATE — to be set at launch]
1. Cancelling at any time
You can cancel a Starter, Pro or Max subscription whenever you like from Billing → Manage subscriptionin the app, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for; you keep the paid features until then and are not charged again. Enterprise agreements are cancelled under the terms of the organisation’s order form.
2. Your 14-day right to cancel (consumers)
If you subscribe as a consumer (not in the course of a business or profession), the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days of the day you first subscribe, without giving a reason.
Digital content and services supplied immediately. Lawyers Deck is a digital service that starts as soon as your payment succeeds. By ticking the consent box at checkout you ask us to begin supplying the service during the 14-day cancellation period and acknowledge that:
- you can still cancel within the 14 days, but
- we may deduct from any refund an amount proportionate to the service used up to the point you tell us you are cancelling, measured against the full monthly (or annual) price.
In practice: cancel within 14 days of your first payment and we refund the unused portion of that period. To exercise this right, email support@lawyersdeck.co.uk stating that you wish to cancel, or use the cancellation form below. We will confirm by email and refund to the original payment method within 14 days of your notice.

To Byte Cognetics Ltd, [registered office — to be confirmed], support@lawyersdeck.co.uk:
I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the Lawyers Deck subscription service, ordered on [date], account email [email], name [name], date [date].
3. Business subscribers
If you subscribe as a business (including a sole practitioner, firm or chambers) the 14-day statutory right does not apply. You may still cancel at any time for the end of the current period, and we will consider refund requests within the first 14 days of a new subscription at our discretion.
4. Renewals, upgrades and downgrades
- Renewal payments are not refundable once the new period has started, except where required by law or where we have materially failed to provide the service.
- Upgrading mid-period is charged pro rata for the remainder of the period; downgrades apply from the next period and no credit is issued for the unused higher tier.
- Annual plans, where offered, may be cancelled for the end of the annual term; we do not refund the remaining months after the 14-day period.
5. Service problems
If the service was unavailable or materially faulty for a significant part of a billing period, contact us and we will credit or refund that period. Inaccuracies in AI-generated content are an inherent limitation of the service described in our Terms of Service and are not in themselves grounds for a refund.
6. How refunds are paid
Refunds go to the original payment method through Stripe, normally within 5–10 working days of being issued. VAT is refunded with the net amount. We cannot refund to a different card or bank account.
